SAINT OF THE MONTH St. John of God, born around 1495, was never content to observe suffering without taking steps to offer help. Consequently, he founded a hospital that ministered to the poor and unwanted of society. He often acted upon what others saw as impulse, but what he perceived as being the urgent need to remedy a bad situation. He is the patron saint of firefighters because he once emerged from a burning hospital unharmed; he is also the patron of booksellers, printers, heart patients, hospitals, nurses and the sick. He is considered to be the founder of the Brothers Hospitallers.

Have a great week!
