ST. PATRICK Born in Britain to a Christian family, Patrick was captured by pirates at the age of 16 and sold into slavery in Ireland. While he was a slave for six years, he dedicated himself to religion. Although he escaped back to his home in Britain, Patrick was driven by the idea of converting Ireland to Christianity. After attending the monastery of Lerins, France and then studying religion under Saint Germanus, Pope Celestine I sent Patrick to Ireland. Patrick began his work in northern and western Ireland, where no one had preached the Gospel before. He worked hard to gain the trust and friendship of several tribal leaders and soon made many converts. He founded over 300 churches brought in clergymen for his new churches from England and France. Patrick preached in Ireland the rest of his life and he was chiefly responsible for converting the Irish people to Christianity. He became known as the Apostle to the Irish. His name in Latin is Patricius.

CIRCLE THE EVENING of Friday, March 26th on your calendar and join in prayer and gratitude for Fr. David and all priests and professed religious, including our own Sr. Noreen Terrault, as we observe the Year of the Priest.  Stations of the Cross will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Taize service of worship, prayer and chant.  This is a special opportunity for us all!
