ST. MARY’S
WALKING BY FAITH
is about to begin a brand new semester. Youngsters from kindergarten-age
through 5th grade will enjoy the music, learning and activities that
Walking By Faith offers on Wednesday nights beginning on September 15th.
The first get-together will be a potluck on the 15th. A signup sheet
is available in the back of the church, along with enrollment applications. If
you have any questions please contact
the program director Euella Galasso by leaving a message for her at the office
at 997-2312 or at her home 999-2525.
HEALING
MASS There will
be a Healing Mass on Saturday, September 11th at 10:00 am at the St. Thomas More
Newman Center
in Eugene. The Newman Center
is located at 1850 Emerald Street
and the phone number is 541-343-07021. This Mass is for people seeking healing.
We will pray together and ask the Lord’s blessing on anyone needing
healing in body, mind or spirit. Come and allow the Lord to work in your life.
The sacrament of anointing and healing prayer will be offered.
WOMEN’S
GUILD The next
meeting of the St. Mary’s Women’s Guild will be on September 14th.

PASTORAL COUNCIL
DISCERNMENT HOUR OF PRAYER
Please join the
Pastoral Council in an Hour of Prayer and Discussion -- Thursday, September 9th
– 6:30 PM.
The Pastoral
Council of St. Mary’s Church is inviting all parishioners to join us for
an hour of prayer for discernment of upcoming Pastoral Council members.
Father David will
lead prayers and discussion on selection of new members to this visionary and
planning body, chosen to assist the pastor in formation and evaluation of
future growth of St. Mary’s Parish.
All are urged to attend this meeting and to pray with us for the
upcoming Pastoral Council. Any parishioner who feels called to serve St.
Mary’s in furthering the mission of its parish community and promotion of
the gospel is invited to attend and to submit his or her name for
consideration.
Parishioners are
invited to submit the names of potential leaders to the Pastoral Council, prior

RCIA
REUNION The RCIA dinner that was scheduled to take place on
Wednesday September 1st has been postponed. Watch for another notice
in the next few weeks.

LAST WEEK St.
Mary’s collected and delivered 139 pounds of bread to Florence Food
Share. God Bless You for your wonderful generosity!
FLORENCE HABITAT
FOR HUMANITY (FHFH) The BeachWalk is Sat, Sept 18th. Team Captains
are: Nancy Cornett, 902-9578 and Genoveva Favela, 902-0996. Registration
is at the North Jetty from 9:00-11:00 am. Consider sponsoring St Mary's
Team, another individual or just make a donation. This is FHFH
biggest fundraiser and ALL the monies stay in Florence!! More information will be at
the Picnic.
SAFETY FAIR on Sept. 11th will be
held at Siuslaw Middle
School, 2525 Oak
Street here in Florence. The fair will begin at 10:00am and
go until 4:00pm offering live fire training, giveaways and free food. There
will be more than a dozen different agencies represented including the Coast
Guard, Oregon State Police, Florence Police, Lane County Search and Rescue and
Even Smokey the Bear.

PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Pastoral
Council is the leadership body that discerns the mission of our parish.
WHO IS A PASTORAL
COUNCIL MEMBER?
“Nurturing
our spiritual growth and sharing God’s Love with all people.”
Members of the
Pastoral Council are registered St. Mary’s parishioners who are at least
18 years of age and who will lead the community in discernment and expression
of our parish mission. Potential members are called by the existing membership,
with the aid of the Holy Spirit, for a period of two years.
St. Mary’s
Pastoral Council is made up of the Pastor, and members called from the
congregation. Staff members and organizational/ministerial representatives are
advisory members to the Parish Council.
